Surah al Hajj Verse 39

 

أُذِنَ لِلَّذِينَ يُقَاتَلُونَ بِأَنَّهُمْ ظُلِمُوا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى نَصْرِهِمْ لَقَدِيرٌ

“Permission (to fight) is given to those against whom war is made, because they have been oppressed, and verily Allah is potent to help them”

Imam Baqir (as) said, The following verse was revealed about the Qaem (as) and his companions – “Permission (to fight) is given to those against whom war is made, because they have been oppressed, and verily Allah is potent to help them” (Taweel Al Ayat Al Zahirah page 334)


Imam Sadiq (as) explained the verse, “Permission (to fight) is given to those against whom war is made, because they have been oppressed, and verily Allah is potent to help them”

He (the Imam (as) said, The general population says that this verse was revealed about the Prophet (sawa) when the Quraysh banished him from Makkah. However, (this verse) was revealed about the Qaem (as) (referring to) the time when he will rise to avenge the blood of Husain (as), saying, We are the avengers of the blood and the seekers of blood money.
